Scaling walls, one frame at a time.

Behind the name

Indiamonato

The word "Indiamonato'' was born casually in October 2023 while my friend Jorge (Diaz Rullo) and I were climbing in Ceuse.

'Today I feel indiavolato!' I shouted while warming up on the portable hangboard under Biographie, known as one of the most beautiful routes in the world, my project. Jorge obviously understood the meaning of the phrase, but he asked me to explain it further. I told him that 'indiavolato' can be translated into Spanish as 'endemoniado,' and Jorge, trying to repeat that word in Italian, unintentionally blended the two languages together and coined our new favorite word: 'Indiamonato.'

A word of encouragement, of incitement before setting off on a climb, or of motivation during rest days, while waiting to get back on our respective projects. Indiamonato became the silent understanding between two friends.

For a year, I had been searching for a name for my filmmaking journey, yet nothing seemed to encapsulate my essence completely... Several months later, after those memorable days spent climbing with Jorge, while crafting a video documenting his ascent of Bibliographie (ironically still at Ceuse), I realized that what I was looking for was already there. The word that embodied it all. Passion. Motivation. Encouragement. Friendship.

On a sunny day, under the shadow of the legendary wall of Ceuse, we didn’t know but Indiamonato Films was beginning to take shape.

MARCO ZANONE

Rock Climber, Filmmaker, Dreamer

I’m a 30-year-old Italian rock climber and filmmaker and I've danced on the edges of both worlds since 2010. Since then, I've been scaling mountains and capturing moments while pushing myself to new heights. I’ve built my life around climbing, and I think that’s why it’s where I can express the best of myself and where my creativity knows no limits.

Filmmaking, instead, arises from the need to tell stories, some of them I've experienced firsthand and others have become a part of me as I've sought to narrate them. Being a filmmaker enriches the climber part of me so much that it perfectly balances my life.

Each journey I’ve completed, whether for climbing or for work, has been a brushstroke on the canvas of my life and opportunity for growth. If in climbing I've managed to achieve the biggest goal of my life, namely climbing a 9a route and even pursuing the grade of 9a+, I believe that in my filmmaking activity, there are many more dreams yet to come true.

But filmmaking for me is not just a career; it's a lifelong odyssey, an exploration of both the world outside and the depths within. Where will the next chapter lead? Only time will tell. One thing is certain: with a camera in my hands and dreams in my heart, I am ready to embrace whatever lies ahead, one frame at a time.

ANDREA ZANONE

Rock Climber, Photographer, Routesetter

I was born in November 1992 and have been deeply involved in the world of sport climbing for about 17 years. In my first decade as a climber, I felt a strong urge to challenge myself and others by competing in national and international bouldering events.

Alongside competitions, outdoor climbing has pushed me towards new horizons, giving me the opportunity to travel around the world. With each passing year, climbing has become more ingrained within me, serving as a powerful force that constantly drives me to better myself, understand my identity, and pursue the experiences I crave.

In 2014, I began dedicating part of my time to route-setting in climbing gyms - to remain even more closely connected to this world - which I still practice with motivation and passion in many gyms in northern Italy. A couple of years ago, my brother Marco opened my eyes to a new form of self-expression and communication through photography and videography.

I'm a freelance professional, continually seeking growth and fresh experiences, all while maintaining a deep-rooted connection to a sport that still makes my eyes shine.
